Jerry Jones - 06/03/08
Saturday we will be making a trip to Agua Prieta Mexico just across the border from Douglass, Arizona.   We will be taking food, toiletries, hygiene and cleaning supplies and some gifts and treats for the children. Donations of any of these Items would be appreciated or you can contribute by checks payable to the PVCC and annotated as “Orphanage Fund”.

For those in the Southeast valley we will assemble at the Jones house for a 6AM departure.  The address is:  1240 East jasper court Gilbert AZ 85296 (cross streets Val Vista and Ray)  (480) 855-5674.

We will then hook up with others at the “Cracker Barrel” restaurant at the Northwest corner of Chandler and I-10 for a 6:30 AM departure.  We will provide maps, exchange cell phone numbers , and then convoy to Mexico.  The trip takes 3 ½ hours each way.  Mexican insurance can be obtained in advance on the web and is based on auto valuation  ($15 to $25 based on coverage)

New regulations exist for auto travel to and from Mexico.  Listed below in bold type are those regulations taken from the US Border Patrol Web site.

Beginning January 31, 2008, U.S. and Canadian citizens 19 years and older who enter the U.S. at land and sea ports of entry from within the Western Hemisphere will need to present government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license as proof of identity, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, or a passport. Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States.
Note: Children age 18 and under will need to present a birth certificate, naturalization certificate or a passport to enter the U.S.

Bring Drinks, snacks, a hat, as we will spend some time outdoors.  We will be providing lunch for the children and all going on the trip.  Car pool to conserve gas and you can have a spiritual trip while getting to know someone really well during the 7 hours in a car.  Children are welcome but use your judgment due to the length of the trip.  Enjoy the trip and enjoy serving in the way the bible calls us to  “look after orphans and widows in their distress”  James 1:27
